Whether you're sipping on mojitos, jet-setting across the country or catching up on some well-deserved R&R, explore our latest release that will keep your nails looking hot in the heat. Inspired by endless summer days, we've created 3 limited edition lacquers each with a special color-shifting shimmer in a vivid translucent base. If you like Coronation, you will love The Kontiki Collection. [from the press release]

The three new nail polishes of the Kontiki Collection from Cirque Colors are everything we love about the Brooklyn-based independent nail polish brand: unique, intriguing, and complex. Each polish is a vivid hue packed with color-shifting shimmer - a combination so fascinating you won't want to stop looking at your nails. But there's another adjective for the Kontiki Collection worth closely taking note of: limited edition. As you look at these pretties, keep the release date of August 5th in mind so you don't miss out if any speak to you :)

The more complex the polish, the harder it is to fully capture in a photograph! But, I spent a great deal of time trying and hope you enjoy :) Two quick notes about all three swatches:

  • While many Cirque Colors polishes dry to a semi-matte finish, the three Kontiki polishes dry to a decently shiny finish. I was eager to test out Cirque's new Liquid Laminate top coat (which I will tell you all about after giving it a thorough testing!) so each swatch is shown with top coat.
  • If you're looking closely, you might see what appear to be tiny black spots in a few pictures. I assure you there aren't any black bits in these polishes - the "black spots" are the holo bits not getting along with the camera :)

Dear Dahlia

Dear Dahlia is a deep fuchsia polish with a green shimmer that shifts to blue and sparse tiny bits of holo. The semi-sheer jelly formula allows the shimmer to show through and was easy to work with. I'm wearing three coats. If you're viewing this post on a Mac, this color pink isn't as bright as it might look.

Thicker Than Water

Thicker Than Water is a "Caribbean sea" shade of turquoise polish with a warm golden shimmer that shifts to green and sparse tiny bits of holo. The formula is semi-sheer but very controllable. The pigmentation was good and I only needed two coats, although if you have longer nails, you might want to do three. The base color of Thicker Than Water is slightly greener than Cerrillos.

Midsummer Night

Midsummer Night is a vivid deep royal blue polish with a pinky-red shimmer that shifts to green and sparse tiny bits of holo. This is the kind of blue that some might consider purple. I found the formula to be slightly more runny than the other two; however, the pigmentation was good and I only needed two coats (if you have longer nails, you might want to do three). While the blue/purple color is quite vivid, it isn't as intense as it photographed (I even tried to tone it down in Photoshop!). My camera really liked this color. And if you're viewing this on an iPad, it's probably jumping out of your screen right now.

Just look at all that shimmery goodness! It's not as intense on the nail as it appears in the bottle, but you can get a better idea of the color of the shimmer.

Cirque Colors Kontiki Collection

I am delighted by the Kontiki Collection and each polish looks even more magical in person. Keep in mind that the Kontiki Collection is limited edition so if you're thinking about picking any up, you might not want to wait.

The Kontiki Collection will be available online at CirqueColors.com on August 5, 2014. Each polish retails for $13. Refer to the Stockists page for participating retailers.

Oh and PS - this collection debuts new packaging with great updates. The sleek black boxes are now equipped with a port hole to peek at the color inside. The words CIRQUE COLORS have a reflective holographic finish. Tres luxe, n'est-ce pas?

  6. That "Midsummer Night" sure is beautiful. I recently stopped by my local Urban Outfitters and picked up a few, have you tried "Mystic"? It is kind of this shade but with a more flak-y holo multicolored glitter...anyway, amazing. I was pretty impressed by a lot of their colors and the polish formula.

    1. No, I haven't! I've seen it but since they always have a bajillion of them, I skip it thinking I can always go back for it. I bet it would look GREAT over Cirque NYFW! Urban has been up-ing their nail polish game for sure, even if a lot of their colors look a lot like colors of high end brands ;)
