Top 5 Spring 2013 Nail Polish Trends

We're into March and that means spring is just a few weeks away! The flowers are just starting to poke through the ground here and you too can get a head start on the season by wearing these great spring nail polishes on your nails.

I selected five nail polish trends I think are standouts this season. For each trend, I'll share a polish in my collection and information about where you can purchase them. I've also created a Spring 2013 Nail Polish Trends board on Pinterest :)

5. Brilliant Sky Blue

What better color to cheer you up than a vivid bright creamy blue? Pick up a polish in this hue and you're sure to be in a springy mood just by looking at your nails :)

China Glaze Sunday Funday, $7 from Ulta

4. White Polish with Buried Confetti Glitter

Polishes with a colorful assortment of glitter sweetly suspended in a milky white base look fresh and springy. While the majority of polishes in this category are hand made, they are widely available through independent nail polish retailers and Etsy. With so many options from various indie brands, you'll be sure to find just the right one (or two!) for you.

Pastel polish for spring? Not exactly ground breaking. But this year just about all of our favorite nail polish manufacturers released new polishes in pastel hues making it just about impossible to not to add a few more to our collections. And besides - pastel polish is so much fun to wear :)

Here's a trend with roots right here in the nail polish blog world! First nail bloggers started layering glitter nail polish between sheer nail polish to create a "glitter sandwich" manicure. Then nail polish brands - indie and mainstream alike - caught on and bottled this effect, giving us many lovely polishes and this big spring trend.

1. Texture, Texture, Texture!

Exploding onto the nail polish scene this spring is the textured nail polish trend. Soon enough we will have a textured polish available in every color from almost every major brand. But only time will tell if this is a trend that is here to stay, or if this is a trend doomed to share space in clearance bins around the world with all those crackle effect polishes...

  1. Great post! I love it when you do these. I personally don't really care for I'm hoping this one doesn't get over done. But I love indie/indie-inspired polishes. :)

    1. Thanks, Liz :) I love seeing indie brands inspiring the "big" brands!

  2. Oh this is an amazing post! I love your suggestions!

  3. OH! Im definitely on board for the blurried glitter trend! I even posted something about the OTHER Revlon polish other than Girly :)

    1. Haha I picked up Heavenly too, such a pretty polish!

  4. Yay! I just love your trends posts :) I'm loving all the pastels so much, and while I'm not huge into indies, I love that you caught the glitters in the milky base thing. The one you're wearing is particularly lovely.

    1. Dwelling On Dreams is great - it's so... dreamy!

  5. Thank you very much for your support!

  6. OMG thank you!!! Dwelling on Dreams on your top trends!! I feel honored! And I'm totally into all the trends... except for the textures, I have to try the Zoya, because the colors I find the colors nicer than the OPI....

    1. You're welcome! I haven't tried the OPI but I think the Zoyas are a lot of fun, and they soon will have a LOT of colors available.

  7. Well, I don't like Texture polishes! But I love, love, love these kind of posts from you!! Thanks for all these suggestions!

  8. My favorite glitter-in-white-jelly polishes are from different dimension (gumdrop & Irish you well). I like the texture trend, but I have had the same thought, is it here to stay? we'll see :)

    1. Ooo thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to check those out and add them to the Pinterest board!

  9. I looooooooove that blue Zoya!So gorgeous!

    1. Right?! I want to wear that color all. the. time.

  10. I'm not a fan of the texture polishes but I agree on the milky white polish and the pastels. Whenever spring comes around I always think of pastels.

    1. I will wear a pastel polish any time of the year, but in spring/summer it totally looks more, erm, "appropriate" ;)

  11. Hello Purty-texture gets me everytime! I'm sure you hear this all the time but I will tell you again-fabulous cuticles!
