Following this summer's hit debut collection from NYC nail polish brand CIRQUE is the mini-collection called All Hallow's Eve. This sophomore collection is made up of two limited edition nail polishes: Kabocha, a glow-in-the-dark pumpkin-guts orange and Neko, a black shredded glitter top coat.
Kabocha
Named for a Japanese variety of winter squash, Kabocha is an orange polish the color of the goop you would pull out of a freshly picked pumpkin. Kabocha has a jelly consistency and is quite even to apply. I used 3 coats and it was just about opaque. But the best part? Kabocha glows in the dark! The glow particles cause Kabocha to dry to a semi-matte finish so a top coat is needed for a glossy shine. Shake well before applying each coat - the glow particles settle to the bottom and you want to be sure to get them on your brush!
3 coats of Kabocha - no top coat
Neko
Neko, the Japanese word for cat, is a nail polish packed full of black glitter shards in a clear base. The pieces vary in shape and size so you'll never get the same manicure twice. I love the random appearance Neko creates! To apply, I recommend plopping a glob of polish in the middle of your nail and then do some rearranging with your brush instead of traditionally painting it on.Like glitter polish, these black shards are tough to remove. A manicure with Neko would be a good candidate for a DIY glue base coat! Do take care when wearing Neko as stray shards may stick up and could catch on a sweater or any fabric that pulls easily.
Let's see Kabocha glow in the dark!

DeleteI really love Cirque polishes, but the black glitter is pretty much a dupe to Icing's Shredded, which is only 4$. I hope the neon orange fares well!
