In NYC for fashion week? Hurray! If you have any downtime, you might want to do some nail polish shopping :) Here's a quick list of some of the best/most unique places to shop for nail polish in New York:
Cosmetic Market
15 East 37th St (between Madison and 5th Ave)
This is the store with discounted makeup and polish that I frequently shop at and reference :) Essie can be hit or miss, but when they have it, it's $3.99. I like to browse the skin care section and I've also been lucky with hair products. Read more about Cosmetic Market here.
Essie Flagship Salon
35 East 65th St (between Madison and Park Ave)
If you're a huge Essie fan, you might want to pay a visit to Essie Weingarten's own salon located inside the Samuel Shriqui Salon. Essie polishes are also available for purchase. Read more about the salon here.
Gideon's Drugs
1385 Broadway (corner of 38th St)
Gideon's has a great selection of polishes. Brands include
Inglot
1592 Broadway (at 48th St)
75 9th Ave, 5th Floor (between 15th and 16th St)
You really should check out Inglot while you're in New York City. Not only do they have beautiful eyeshadows, they have a large line of polishes including several flakies (swatched here).
Joe Fresh
110 5th Ave (between 16th and 17th St)
510 5th Ave (corner of 43rd St)
Joe Fresh has only been in NYC a year but I already have found so many great pieces to add to my wardrobe! Their clothing is work-appropriate but still stylish and quite affordable. They have a beauty section with a rainbow of polishes. Read more about Joe Fresh here.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
140 Ludlow Street
Visit OCC's flagship location. Read more about the flagship and see some photos here.
Ricky's

Ricky's is a New York beauty store in the same vein as Sephora or Ulta. They had a great selection of polishes and often have sales.
You can find GOSH at several Duane Reades now around the city! A great Duane Reade to check out is the one on 40 Wall St.
Check out more places to shop here and a handy map here. In case you missed it, check out this list of the best nail polish events happening on Fashion's Night Out!
Enjoy Fashion Week and nail polish shopping!

I need a NYC fix! Maybe sometime you can go off topic a bit and give some safe/decent places to stay that are not $300 and up/night! Is there anywhere even that is $140? I hate to bug my friend who lives 2 blocks off the river in Weehawken. Have to admit however his old family home he owns there is really fun and convenient to stay at. Just hate to ask!
ReplyDeleteHi sorry I don't know anything about hotels in NYC except that they are notoriously expensive :/
DeleteWhere could I find china glaze in Manhattan? Or somewhere around the area where I can easily get by subway?:)
ReplyDeleteHi Evelyn, here is a list of stores that sell China Glaze: http://gothampolish.blogspot.com/2011/10/where-to-find-china-glaze-nail-polish.html There aren't many, and the Ulta in Rego Park may be your best bet!
